Benidorm has presented a new taxi this morning after the new amendment made to the Law at the proposal of the Benidorm City Council by plenary agreement.

The Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate has recalled that the Generalitat Valenciana (Regional Government) approved in January of this year the modification of article 13.1 of Law 13/2017, on 8th November, of the Taxi of the Valencian Community that allows this service public is carried out with vehicles between five and seven seats, including the driver, although it may be expandable up to nine seats in exceptional cases.

The change in the law, he stressed, “responded to a proposal from the Department of Mobility, after meeting with the two Benidorm taxi associations, which was held in plenary session on the 28th October, 2019 and unanimously approved by all groups of the Municipal Corporation ”.

De Zárate stressed that the new vehicle "is a high-end 7-seater, very comfortable that will provide a very powerful service to any person or family that needs a vehicle of these characteristics."

The councilor said in the presentation that "this is what we want for Benidorm, the best vehicles with a municipal taxi license, because our taxi drivers are the ones who best know and take care of our city. We don't want them to come from outside."

Finally, González de Zárate pointed out that "the objective of the council is that in 2023 all vehicles with municipal licenses are ecological vehicles," although in these cases with a higher number of seats, as indicated in the monitoring session of the Agreement with Iberdrola, “there are no ecological vehicles available on the market; but there will be and Benidorm will have them ”.
