The latest scores for Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola have been endorsed by Jancis Robinson. In the renowned wine guide, produced in collaboration with Ferrán Centelles, the wine critic regarded by many as the most influential in the world, the new vintages receive outstanding ratings. Once again representing the best of the Alicante PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), the article highlights a new Mediterranean style described as “subtlety over force”. According to Ferrán Centelles, the new releases “Giró de Abargues 2024, El Veneno 2024 (The Poison 2024), and Origen Moscatel 2023 (Moscatel Origin 2023) return as a dazzling example of energy and vitality.”
Located on the Finca Abargues (Abargues Estate) in Llíber, Marina Alta, Casa Agrícola has become one of the most influential projects within the Alicante PDO. Its philosophy of minimal intervention, environmental respect, and the recovery of native varieties — such as Giró (a traditional red grape) and Moscatel (Muscat) — has enabled Pepe Mendoza to develop a natural, honest winemaking style deeply rooted in the land.
With more than 25 years of professional experience, and eight years leading his own project, Pepe Mendoza has become an ambassador for Alicante wine and for the municipality of l’Alfàs (l’Alfàs del Pi), as its mayor, Vicente Arques, emphasised. He praised Mendoza’s leadership in implementing environmentally friendly methods and his role as a benchmark for the town.
