Changes begin this Monday, February 3
The Department of Mobility of the Benidorm City Council has reported today on the traffic cuts and diversions that will take place from next Monday, February 3, due to the works to improve the wastewater network planned on Avenida Armada Española and in Parque de Elche.
The first of these works consists of the adaptation of the last section of the sewage collector on Avenida Armada Española at its confluence with Jaime I. This is a section of about 100 meters that will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Thus, while the works last, the traffic of authorized vehicles, delivery of goods and public transport will be diverted along Avenida Uruguay, reaching Armada Española through Avenida de Xixo.
The Mobility Department has explained that the stretch of Armada Española between Xixo and Jaime I will function as an entry and exit road for vehicles with fords in the affected area and for loading and unloading vehicles during authorised hours. The cycle lane will be closed along this entire stretch. As regards pedestrian traffic, it will be diverted according to the needs of the work.
These cuts and diversions will be in place throughout the entire project, which is expected to be completed before Easter.
The second work that will also begin this coming Monday is the installation of a new underground pumping system in Elche Park that will improve the collection and pumping of rainwater from the entire area. The development of this work, which will last until mid-March, will force traffic to be cut off on Calle Alcalde José Such and vehicles will be diverted via San Pedro, where the bus stop will be moved. In addition, the bike lane will be closed from Calle Maravall to the junction with Los Almendros
