This weekend (February 10 and 11) La Nucía hosts the first test of the year of the Shimano Super Cup Massi for mountain bikes. This year, due to the high level of its participants, it will be a “mini World Cup” of XCO Mtb with the presence of the current world champions and Ineos cyclists Tom Pidcock and Pauline Ferran-Prevot . Admission for the public will be free of charge, the women's test will be on Saturday, February 10 at 4:00 p.m. and the men's test on Sunday, February 11 at 12:30 p.m.
The test has UCI C1 category and will distribute points for the Paris Olympic Games. In its third edition, the Shimano Super Cup Massi La Nucía will have the best line-up in its history in both the men's and women's categories, bringing together the best XCO cyclists. Therefore, the show is guaranteed on the new 5.18 km “Olympic Cross Country” (XCO) circuit designed by the Olympic medalist Carlos Coloma and the local club La Nucía Coloma Bike Club, with departure and arrival from the Muixara School , next to the Olympic Stadium. Both the men's and women's races can be seen live on YouTube and Twitch.
This Shimano Super Cup Massi of La Nucía, UCI C1, is organized by the local club “La Nucía Coloma Bike Club” and the support of Costa Blanca- Alicante Provincial Council and the La Nucía City Council . Participating this afternoon in the presentation of this international XCO mountain bike test were Sofía Waite, North American biker from the BH Coloma Team, Albert Balcells , technical delegate of the test and Bernabé Cano , mayor of La Nucía.
“The circuit is very hard but very fast, there will be a show”
For the North American cyclist Sofía Waite it will be a very special race since it will mark her debut with the Spanish UCI team BH Coloma Team and her first test of the 2024 season. “ The circuit is very hard and very fast, so there will be a great spectacle for the public. We also have high-level participation with world champions and many of the best bikers. With the BH Coloma Team we train a lot here in La Nucía, so we race at “home”” commented Sofía Waite.

Albert Balcells, highlighted how quickly the prestige of La Nucía has grown, “ in a short time it has positioned itself on the international Mountain Bike scene; and the importance of being the first round of the Shimano Super Cup Massi championship. Best bikers in La Nucía
A large number of UCI teams and top-level cyclists , regulars of the World Cup, will be present in La Nucía this weekend. Tom Pidcock (Olympic gold and current world champion) of Ineos Grenadiers , Sam Gaze (last year's event champion and current XCO Eliminator world champion) of Alpecin Deceuninck, Sebastian Fini of Lapierre Mavic Unity, David Valero (Olympic bronze ) and the rest of the BH Coloma Team team , David Campos of the Orbea Factory Team, Ondrej Cink of the Primaflor Mondraker Racing Team, Maxime Marot of the Rockrider Ford, lead the group of favourites in the Men's category, in a grid worthy of a World Cup.
As for the women , Pauline Ferrand Prevot (current world champion) from Ineos Grenadiers, Raquel Queiros and Sofía Waite from BH Coloma Team, Marta Cano from Primaflor Mondraker Racing Team, Savilia Blunk from Rockrider Ford, the entire Ghost Factory team Racing, in addition to the Massi team with all its members, will fight for victory in girls.
New La Nucía circuit
This year a new circuit will be launched in La Nucía in a location close to the previous edition, it is a very fun, varied and technical 5.18 km circuit. and 128 meters of unevenness, with departure and arrival next to the Muixara School in La Nucía. Admission for the public will be free.

Test for “mtb quarry”
In this intense weekend of mountain bikes there will also be space for the “mtb quarry” with a test for schools “Children's Races” on Saturday, February 10 at 10 in the morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Camilo Cano, with races of “ promises”, “beginners”, “flights and children, only for federated cyclists.
This La Nucía School XCO test has 150 registrants and is organized by La Nucía Coloma Bike Club and the La Nucía City Council. From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. the bib collection will take place and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the competition. The young promises of the “La Nucía Coloma Bike Club” will participate in it.
