Lion King: First Real Trailer Drops

Disney have shared the first full trailer for the upcoming live action remake of The Lion King.

A short teaser trailer was debuted last year, which soon became the most watched of all time – despite dividing opinion among many fans loyal to the original cartoon version.

Now, a longer taster of the movie has been premiered online – showing Simba, Scar, Nala, Timon and Pumba as well as recreating a few iconic scenes.

Narrated by James Earl Jones as Mufasa, The Lion King will also feature the voices of Beyonce, Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen and many

more. The Jungle Book director Jon Favreau has directed the movie, which will be released on July 18.

Some viewers are unhappy with the differences between the animated version of Scar and the one shown in the trailer. “They made Scar sound wimpy and he doesn’t even look like Scar,” wrote one Twitter user, who also added their dislike of the changes to “the iconic tree painting”.

Others suggested Chiwetel Ejiofor, who voices the

villainous lion, isn’t frightening enough for the part.

“Chiwetel Ejiofor is a good actor, but he doesn’t have the voice of Scar at all,” one person wrote. “He’s not a menacing actor. They should’ve cast Mads Mikkelsen.”
