The Secretary of State for Tourism, through the SICTED project, supports the tourist establishments participating in the adaptation process for their integration into the new reality generated by the impact of the SARS-CoV-19 on life and the tourism industry.

The Ministries of Tourism and Health, in collaboration with the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE), have developed manuals and protocols of Good Advanced Practices for reducing the risk of contagion by coronavirus in the tourism sector. The establishments adhering to the program have developed the applicability of these measures and their own contingency plans. Once audited and evaluated, the establishments that pass the phase receive the certificate and the relevant stamp for their exhibition.

The first 22 establishments in Benidorm distinguished in this first process offer their clients a more controlled and secure service. With this number of certificates, Benidorm continues to be among the first national destinations in the number of companies and SICTED certified services that have obtained the new badge.

The extraordinary Inter-Destination Committee of July 31 agreed to grant the distinction, in the case of Benidorm, to 10 hotels, 3 campsites, 3 agencies, 3 coach companies and 2 companies of tourist apartments, leisure parks and games. New committees will be held in August and October and more badges and certifications will be awarded. In total there are 43 companies in Benidorm that opt for these new certifications.

The main objective pursued by the initiative of the Secretary of State for Tourism is to generate confidence and security in both residents and national and international visitors who enjoy Benidorm.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, highlighted that with these 22 new certificates, “Benidorm's effort is evident, even in the worst circumstances, still betting on quality” and managing and minimising risk, seeking to offer maximum security to employees , tourists and residents ..

In this sense, the mayor recalled that to these certifications must be added those of "those establishments that have worked and positioned themselves with that local Covid19 Protocol ON seal that in the end allows us to be offering the maximum guarantees and all the security in the world to those who visit us ”. Pérez pointed out that this is the best bet we can make to generate trust and that the activation takes place.

After this process, the distinguished companies have had to pass an external evaluation that guarantees strict compliance with all the requirements set out in the Advanced Good Practices SICTED Covid-19, offering their clients a more controlled and secure service.

Toni Pérez highlighted the effort made by companies: "quality certifications take a lot of work and it is not easy to be encouraged to participate in this certification", for which he congratulated the 22 companies that just got it and encouraged to finish the process for the next certification to which they are in process at the moment
