This same week the renovation works of the pavement of the sidewalks of Avenida Bilbao begin, which "will follow the same design as the recently remodeled Avenida del Mediterráneo", as annouced by the Councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate.

The mayor explained that "previously the drinking water and sewerage services that run under the sidewalks were renewed, and the pedestrian area was expanded on both sides of the street to gain accessibility, so that at the moment it only remains change the current tiles and place the same ones as on Avenida Mediterráneo ”.

In addition to the replacement of the pavement, it is also planned to change the palm trees, since some were badly affected by a plague of 'red weevil' that deteriorated their condition.

This action will be carried out "in an approximate period of a month and a half", so "Avenida Bilbao will be completely renovated for the start of the summer season, with a more friendly, comfortable and accessible image and configuration".

De Zárate has highlighted that “by giving the pavement of Avenida Bilbao the same design, material and characteristics that has been used in the Mediterráneo, we are giving continuity to the pedestrian path that connects one of the main arteries of our city with the first line of our beach of Levante ”.
