Benidorm Council has installed the first suspended luminaires designed exclusively for the Avenida del Mediterráneo and the Plaza de la Hispanidad.

Made in Spain they are 4 meters in diameter, and they regulate their light intensity so are totally energy efficient.

Throughout the month of June, 20 lights will be installed on the Plaza de la Hispanidad and 70 projected lights will be installed on the Avenida del Mediterráneo.

The Mayor, Toni Pérez, explained that "that these lights are 100% Spanish", and is the work of an SME based in Murcia (NTE Sistemas). He also said that "in planning the new Mediterranean avenue, we were very ambitious and looked for a design that was exclusive and avant-garde, a characteristic that permeates the entire projected urban scene".
