Recycling up in La Nucia

The municipality of La Nucía during 2019 collected 25% more "light packaging" compared to 2018, demonstrating greater public awareness of the need to recycle. The residents of La Nucía have demonstrated their ecological awareness and their commitment to sustainability in 2019, by separating their recycling into the different bins at the the Ecopark.

The Eco Park La Nucia has an area of 4,000 square meters, and you can deposit up to 39 different kinds of waste. Its use is completely free for those registered in La Nucía and its open is from 9am - 6pm, Monday to Friday and Saturdays from 9am - 2pm. It is located on the Guadalest Road next to the Lidl Supermarket.

In 2020, the “Financial Aid” will continue to encourage the recycling of light containers, glass and cardboard paper in the Ecopark. This 2020 garbage subsidy line can accommodate all the neighbourhoods of the municipality of La Nucía. This subsidy rewards between 10% and 30% of the receipt of the garbage rate, to all people who recycle 100 kilos or more per year of “containers”, “glass” or “paper-cardboard” in the Ecopark. 10% to those who recycle 100 kg. of one of the three wastes, 20% for those who recycle 100 kg. of two of the three wastes and 30% for those who recycle 100 kg. of the three residues. Last year, 54 families received this help, which saved up to € 3.10, thanks to their “recycling in the Ecopark”.

154.64 tons of light containers (cans, plastic bottles ... etc) were collected in 2019 in the yellow containers in La Nucía. A record figure that represents an increase of 25% compared to 2018, with an increase of 30.96 tons. Important amount given the lightness of these containers, for the 123.68 tons of 2018.
“Paper-cardboard” passes 200 tons

During 2019, 211.28 tons of paper-cardboard were collected in the 100 containers located throughout the municipality and Eco Park. 5.86% more than in 2018, exceeding for the first time the 200 tons in La Nucía.

As for glass in 2019, 14% more was recycled than in 2018, with a total of 257,582 kilograms. This figure represents an increase of 31,662 kilos compared to the previous year, which was 225,920 kg. Green glass containers continue to increase year by year in La Nucía.

The La Nucía domestic oil containers collected 2,610 liters of used cooking oil in 2019 , deposited by the residents of La Nucía. 20.3% more than the previous year, when 2,080 litres was collected. La Nucía has 5 containers for the collection of domestic oil: 1. Roundabout nº6- Entrance of Urb. Panorama in Commercial Gallery, 2. Muixara Public School, 3. San Rafael Public School in Ermita street, 4. Marina Baixa Avenue, crossing Carretera Capitana and 5. Ecoparque de La Nucía. The main objective of this initiative is to prevent domestic oils from being poured down the drain and from contaminating the water.

A total of 30,486 kilos of clothes was deposited, an increase of 2.5% compared to 2018.
