Behind The Presenter:

1) What led you to a career in radio?

I got my passion for radio from listening to my local radio station Radio City in Liverpool. Who knew that I would one day win a competition to present one show that then led onto to me working full time with my radio heroes.

2) What is your routine before starting your show?

My first job was as a milk man and having presented breakfast shows for many years the early starts are no problem for me. I normally get into the studio about 8am and yes the first thing is to put the kettle on for a cup of tea. Well I am British!

3) What is the most challenging part of the job?

There isn’t one. It’s a great privilege being able to play your favourite songs and get paid for it. To this day my Dad still tells me that I should get a proper job.

4) Who is your favourite music artist and why do you like them?

I have had the privilege of meeting so many artist over the years, some nicer than others! But my favourite was Kylie Minogue. I just love her upbeat outlook on life and her feel good music.

5) Do you have a favourite hobby outside of radio?

I do all the usual things, read, listen to music etc but radio has always been my real hobby and I continue to live and breathe it.

6) What music do you listen to when you’re not working?

I have such a wide taste in music from electronica to current pop hits. I believe a good song is a good song whatever genre it comes from, but 70’s & 80’s disco / soul is my guilty pleasure.

7) What advice would you give people who want to work in radio?

There is no better way of learning radio than to at first volunteer at a radio station. If you have the talent and want to be a presenter, it will enable you to learn from experienced broadcasters. There are though many other roles behind the scenes and experiencing how a radio station works day to day will give you an insight into these.

8) Be honest, best decade for music?

The 80’s for invention and new genres and the questionable fashion choices!

9) What’s your favourite beech on the Costa Blanca?

San Juan Playa with it’s scenic stretch of white sand
