One more year, Benidorm joins the commemoration of the International Breast Cancer Day, which is celebrated yesterday 19th October. On this occasion, La Creu, Castell and Tossal de La Cala where lit up yesterday evening in pink as a sign of support for all women who suffer and fight against this disease, adding to the great bond that presides over the gardens of the Plaza SSMM Reyes de España.

The Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, has pointed out that “illuminating three iconic places in Benidorm in pink is one more gesture to give visibility to this day and to raise awareness among the population about the importance of early detection of this cancer, the most frequent among women according to the World Health Organization, the promoter of this commemoration ”.

Zaragozí recalled that “since last Wednesday, the Solidarity Week for Those Affected by Breast Cancer has been taking place, organized by Anemona, and that yesterday its central activity, the traditional march that this year, due to the pandemic, has received virtual character ”. "Despite these special circumstances," he explained, the citizens of Benidorm responded en masse to Anémona's appeal and the streets of the city, as well as social networks, were filled with the association's pink shirts to give visibility to this cause ”.

Continuing with the activities of the International Breast Cancer Day, the commemorative manifesto was read in the Multipurpose Room of the El Torrejó municipal center. The capacity of the room is limited as established by the sanitary guidelines.
