Valencian Regional preventive measures against the coronavirus will be extended by 21 more days

Valencian Regional President, Ximo Puig, announces over the weekend that preventive measures against the coronavirus will be extended by 21 more days to protect citizens. The extension of the restrictions adopted on 17th August will come into effect next Tuesday. Gambling casinos, bingo halls, game rooms, recreational halls and specific betting establishments must close no later than 1am. The closing hours of hotel and restaurant establishments are maintained at 1am , as well as the recommendation to hold family or social gatherings of a maximum of 10 people, and limit visits to nursing homes to a single person.

The decision will be published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana on Monday and which will come into force next Tuesday, after holding a meeting by videoconference with the Minister of Universal Health and Public Health, Ana Barceló. "We must accelerate the control of the pandemic; therefore, we must be constant in the restrictive and preventive measures put in place to insist on this line," said the president of the Generalitat.

Ximo Puig, said "We need to step up what we are doing to stop the spread of the coronavirus and to trust the common sense and civic responsility of our citizens".

Ximo Puig has also conveyed that next week the agreement to adopt the Covid App developed by the Government. "This tool will help us in early detection tasks, which at the moment are basic: early detection for early care," he said.

Regarding the trackers that will reinforce the network of surveillance and follow-up of cases of the Ministry of Health, the person in charge of the Council has also said that last week the first meeting with the Military Emergency Unit (UME) took place and that "in the next days "will begin to act the trackers of the Ministry of Defence

Preventive measures

  • The measures that are extended, approved on 17th August after the agreement reached in the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System, refer to nightlife, hotels and restaurants, mass events, residences, tobacco, and screening.
  • Nightlife, in the Valencian Community the suspension of the activity of discos, dance halls, karaoke and cocktail bars with and without live musical performances will be maintained.
  • The hotel and restaurant establishments, terraces and beach bars or restaurants, the obligation to secure 1.5 meters between the tables or groups of tables is maintained. This distance must be measured between the people closest to the different tables or groups, which must have a maximum occupancy of 10 people.
  • The hotel and restaurant establishments and services must continue to close no later than 1am. In addition, the establishment's products or beverages cannot be consumed outside the limited area of ​​the terrace, and the collective or group consumption of beverages on the street or in public spaces is not allowed.
  • The new resolution includes establishments considered as gambling casinos, bingo halls, game rooms, arcades and specific betting shops must also close no later than 1am, without access of new customers can be allowed from 12 midnight. These measures apply every day of the week, including holidays.
  • In addition, the recommendation to limit family or social gatherings, in private spaces, to a maximum of 10 people is maintained.
  • Regarding events and activities whose expected influx exceeds 400 people, their organisation continues to be subject to prior authorisation by the General Directorate of Public Health and Addictions.
  • The prohibition of smoking on public roads or in outdoor spaces is maintained when a minimum interpersonal distance of at least 2 meters cannot be respected. This limitation applies to any inhalation device for tobacco, water pipes, hookahs or similar, including electronic cigarettes or vaping.
  • As indicated in the previous resolution and without prejudice to the corresponding development established by the Vice Presidency and Ministry of Equality and Inclusive Policies, in residences and social health centres, also in residential addiction treatment centres dependent on the Ministry of Universal Health, PCR tests will be carried out on all new admissions and readmissions at most 72 hours in advance.
  • In addition, visits to one person per resident remain limited, with extreme prevention measures, and with a maximum duration of one hour a day, except for those people who are in the end-of-life process.
