The City Council is looking for new locations to implement these benches and bring art to other neighborhoods in the city.
Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage, has added a new element to promote the commemoration of the 700th anniversary of the municipality's founding. In this case, with a bench in the shape of an open book featuring the official logo of this anniversary on a reproduction of the text of the Carta de Poblament signed by Admiral Bernat de Sarrià on May 8, 1325, it has been placed at the end of Paseo de Colón, in the square that pays tribute to sailors and tuna fishermen.
The Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, has stated that "we continue to incorporate artistic and charming elements into our urban fabric, and in this case, we are doing so to increase the awareness of these '700 Anys' of Benidorm among the hundreds of people, residents and tourists, who pass through this busy space every day to use the Port, the Yacht Club, or Mal Pas beach."
The bench is made of concrete and vinyl, so it also offers the option of changing its theme after the anniversary commemoration, to promote and publicize other events or dates of special interest, explained Ana Pellicer. In this regard, the councilor stated that, in addition to new themes, "at City Hall, we are also exploring new locations for these benches in other neighborhoods of the city in the coming years, with the goal of bringing urban art and culture to as many spaces as possible."
