A hundred Benidorm Primary students have reforested a small space in the El Moralet park with Mediterranean trees and plants, during the activity organized by the Departments of Education and Environment to commemorate Arbor Day. The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilors of both areas, Maite Moreno and Mónica Gómez, have traveled to this space, who together with other members of the Corporation have collaborated with the little ones in planting more than 200 specimens of aladierno, rosemary, creeping rosemary and oleander.
The mayor pointed out that "this year we have decided to move this activity to El Moralet park because it is an area very close to our urban environment and very busy on a daily basis, which will make it easier for the students of the CEIP Els Tolls and Vasco Núñez of Balboa who have participated in this activity can follow the evolution and growth of the specimens they have planted.” A circumstance, he has assured, that "will favor their involvement with the natural environment, thereby promoting environmental awareness among the younger generations."
Toni Pérez has stressed "the importance of involving the little ones in the care and protection of the environment", and has highlighted that "since the City Council launched in 2003 the initiative to commemorate Arbor Day by planting specimens of species "Thousands of Primary students have participated in this activity and thousands of trees and plants have been incorporated into the green surface of Benidorm."
The day has had the collaboration of the municipal technical services and the rural guard of the City Council.
