Accessible Beach Bathing Service at L'Albir Extended Until the End of September

Visitors with reduced mobility will continue to enjoy safe and assisted access to the Mediterranean Sea after L'Alfàs del Pi Town Hall confirmed that the accessible bathing service at Racó de l'Albir Beach will remain in operation until the end of September.

The service, located next to the beach library on Racó de l'Albir Beach, is designed to ensure that people with mobility difficulties can enjoy the sea in complete safety, comfort and dignity throughout the extended summer season.

Safe and Inclusive Beach Access

The accessible bathing point is equipped with adapted facilities including:

Amphibious wheelchairs
Amphibious walking crutches
Adapted showers and toilets
Shaded rest areas

Two specially trained assistants provide one-to-one support, helping users safely enter and leave the water while remaining on hand throughout the bathing experience.

Councillor for Beaches Luis Morant said the initiative reflects the council's commitment to ensuring that everyone can enjoy the municipality's coastline.

"Our aim is to provide beaches that are accessible and inclusive for everyone, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality throughout the summer," he said.

Booking Required

The assisted bathing service is available by prior reservation through the Albir Beach Library.

Opening hours:

Monday to Sunday: 11:00am – 1:30pm
Weekends: Additional afternoon sessions from 4:00pm – 6:30pm

Summer Safety Measures Continue

The accessible bathing service forms part of L'Alfàs del Pi's wider summer beach programme.

Lifeguard cover will also continue until the end of September, with a team of lifeguards and a paramedic providing beach safety throughout the season.

Additional measures include:

Increased police patrols along the seafront
Enhanced beach cleaning
Water sports and equipment hire
Sunbed and parasol rental services

Racó de l'Albir Beach has once again been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag, recognising its excellent water quality, safety standards, accessibility, environmental management and visitor facilities.

L'Alfàs del Pi also remains one of Spain's leading municipalities for environmental recognition, holding multiple Blue Centre awards and a Blue Trail distinction for the popular route to the Albir Lighthouse, highlighting its ongoing commitment to sustainable and accessible tourism.
