Alfasino businessman Pepe Mendoza remains at the forefront, through his Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola wineries, standing out with the best wines of the Alicante Protected Designation of Origin, according to the latest scores from the most renowned wine guide in the world, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate.
In his recently published article 'Spain: 2022 and 2023 in Central and Mediterranean Spain, the solar years', Luis Gutiérrez selects the landscape wines: La Viña de Madaras 2023 with 92+ points, Pureza 2023 and Casa Agrícola Tinto 2022, both with 92 points and Casa Agrícola Blanco 2024 with 91 points.
And the current wines Fierroca 2021 with 96 points, El Veneno 2021 with 95 and Giró de Abargues 2021 with 95 RP points continue to be positioned as the highest-rated still red wines in barrels for Luis Gutiérrez and Robert Parker.
The Alicante winery is a model of sustainability, awarded and recognized on several occasions in 2024, including the “Most Sustainable Winery in Spain”.
For eight years, the Alfasino winemaker has been at the helm of his project, the Bodega Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola, located in the Finca de Abargues, in the Alicante municipality of Llíber, in the Marina Alta region. After a lifetime of working alongside his father in the l'Alfàs Enrique Mendoza wineries, Pepe thus faced his personal project with wines that in such a short time have already conquered consumers and the wine sector.
The mayor of l'Alfàs del Pi, Vicente Arques, once again wished to congratulate the winemaker and businessman from Alfas, a pioneer in applying cultivation methods that seek harmony with the natural environment, for his brilliant career and for being a benchmark and ambassador for the people of Alfas.
Bodega Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola has nearly 27 hectares of vineyards, with native varieties of the area, especially the Giró, old dry-land plots recovered to extract the best wines following a natural process, with minimal intervention.
