The City Council of l'Alfàs del Pi increases the penalties for depositing rubbish, debris, pruning remains and other items in an uncontrolled manner, on public roads and throughout the municipal area, with fines of up to 3,001 euros.
“Last week the Local Police opened 9 sanctioning proceedings of 300 euros for the minor, and 1,800 for the major,” reported the Government Spokesperson Councillor Toni Such, “and in all cases it has been possible to act thanks to the collaboration of citizens, to individuals who have sent us photos reporting the uncivil acts.”
The City Council has taken the measure of increasing the fines for non-compliance with the Municipal Ordinance, penalising uncontrolled dumping with up to 3,001 euros, “to see if this way they think twice before throwing rubbish wherever and whenever they want”, explains Such. The Technical Services, Cleaning, Environment and Citizen Security departments are monitoring this practice, which is as disrespectful as it is inexplicable, adds the Alfasino councillor, “especially when we have two clean points, home collection services for belongings, even a mobile recycling service every Friday at the market”.
At the same time, with the increase in fines for uncontrolled dumping, we want to highlight the seriousness of the events, denounce those companies and individuals who break the law, creating a problem for public health and the city's image. Toni Such has thanked the supportive and committed reaction of those residents who have sent us photos denouncing specific dumping's, which has allowed us to act and file 9 sanctioning proceedings”, a circumstance that he has taken advantage of to thank and request once again the help and collaboration of citizens, “so that they send us photos and videos when they see someone disposing of waste where it is not appropriate”.
L'Alfàs del Pi has two Clean Points for recycling responsibly

In short, all those wastes that cannot be thrown into the containers found on the street.
The opening hours of the Punto Limpio on Reino Unido Street are from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. As for l'Albir, the Punto Limpio on Tauró Street is open from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and also on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone residing in l'Alfàs del Pi can use these spaces free of charge. The Alfàs del Pi City Council and Avanza Movilidad Levante, the concessionaire of the public transport bus service that connects the 18 municipalities of the Marina Baixa, have shown their concern about the problems that the elimination of traffic lights on the Altea-Albir highway Is generating. In a meeting held in the Alfasino town hall, the worsening of the service that was provided until now was revealed.
The definitive elimination of the traffic lights located in front of the Altea Nautical Club and a few meters from the El Chiringuito restaurant roundabout, in the municipality of Altea, is doubling the time it takes to make the journey between l'Alfàs del Pi and Altea. This has been communicated by the company awarded the service, Avanza Movilidad Levante, to the Alfàs del Pi City Council, where the first complaints from affected users, both from Altea and l'Alfàs del Pi, have begun to arrive.
Until now this road had two-way traffic. For a few days now, only one lane of traffic has been left, heading south towards l'Albir, and the other lane of the road has been reserved for pedestrian use. To go to Altea you must use the N-332 road. Therefore, the buses must enter l'Albir to pick up users and, to go to Altea, return to the N-332.
This new situation has caused an increase in the time needed to make the journey between the two neighboring towns and, consequently, the frequency of passage has also been affected, according to what Avanza Movilidad Levante has conveyed to the City Council of l'Alfàs del Pi.
The company has warned that the situation may worsen in summer, due to the increase in traffic on the N-332 and the traffic jams that occur as it passes through Altea. Hence the concern of the Alfàs del Pi City Council and Avanza Movilidad Levante, since this new situation is causing a worsening of the public transport service that it provided until now.

Both the president of Corazón Exprés, Magdalena López del Castillo, and the councilor for Cooperation and Volunteering of the Alfàs del Pi City Council, Isabel Muñoz, and the councilor for Culture, Manuel Casado, call for the trees to be filled with gifts.
The gifts collected will be distributed among different associations, groups and Social Welfare departments in the region so that they reach families with fewer resources.

The list of countries represented is long thanks to the participation of more than fifty associations and groups, which are dedicated to the organization of International Alfa Day.
The main objective of International Day of l'Alfàs is to promote coexistence and integration of residents of different nationalities. This is a pioneering festive and cultural initiative in the Marina Baixa, launched in 2007 by the Alfasino town council, in collaboration with associations and groups of foreign residents, to commemorate one of the great strengths of the municipality: multiculturalism, since in l'Alfàs del Pi people of almost a hundred different nationalities live together, with more than 50% of the population of foreign origin.

Hence, on this day, the focus is on associations and groups, which since the first edition have played a fundamental role, sharing their customs and roots in an enriching exchange.
L'Alfàs del Pi wins the competition for sustainability, held this summer in the IV edition of the #GreenFlagsMovement initiative, launched by Ecovidrio, and wins one of the two Green Flags up for grabs throughout the Valencian Community .
The flag presentation ceremony will take place on October 26 in Madrid, at the hands of the Deputy Director General of Tourism Development and Sustainability, Ana Muñoz. The Councilor for Tourism, Luis Morant, has stated that he is very satisfied to be able to obtain this new recognition for the policies promoted by the City Council and has thanked the hospitality sector, and citizens in general, for their participation and response.
L'Alfás del Pi has collected up to 230,850 kilos of glass in the months of June, July and August, which represents an increase of 3.9% compared to the same period in 2022. Thanks to the recycling of these glass containers, it has achieved an environmental benefit equivalent to the CO2 processed by 181 trees over 100 years. The other town that won the Green Flag in the Valencian Community was Finestrat.
Remember that in this IV #GreenFlagsMovement competition, more than 140 town councils and 15,000 hospitality establishments from five autonomous communities have participated . A campaign whose objective is to reward the efforts of local hospitality and the activism of coastal municipalities for sustainability during the summer, especially with regard to the correct management of their waste.
The Green Flags Movement contemplates actions to respond to the notable increase in the generation of glass packaging waste in coastal areas caused by summer tourism. In summer, a third of the glass containers put into circulation are consumed and close to 50% of the waste from single-use glass containers put on the market is generated by the hospitality sector, so its implication is key to generating a real transition towards a more circular and decarbonized model.

Along these lines, it must be taken into account that a few meters from the lighthouse, it opened its doors in 2011, a pioneer in the application of 3D technology on open-air sites, which offers the visitor the possibility of virtually viewing the entire hot springs thanks to to an iPad application that shows the original architecture on the archaeological remains and offers a tour to understand the functioning of each of the rooms of the baths.
