Alfaz winemaker Pepe Mendoza is solidifying his position as a leader in the Alicante DOP, earning significant recognition from key wine guides.
For the second consecutive year, Guía Peñín recognized Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola's Fierroca wine with a remarkable 97 points, designating it the best red wine in the Valencian Community.
Building on this triumph, Master of Wine Tim Atkin's recently released Discover Spain 2025 guide awarded top scores to several Casa Agrícola wines: 95 points for Casa Agrícola Tinto 2023, 94 for Pureza 2024, and 93 for Casa Agrícola Blanco 2024.
These distinctions crown Casa Agrícola as the highest-rated winery in the Alicante DOP.Mendoza, who has been at the helm of his project for eight years, is celebrated for his philosophy of minimal intervention and sustainable viticulture.
His Casa Agrícola winery, situated in the Marina Alta region, prioritizes respect for the environment and the revitalization of native varieties such as Giró and Moscatel.
Having honed his craft alongside his father and brother at the l'Alfàs Enrique Mendoza wineries, Pepe Mendoza has rapidly garnered acclaim and loyalty within the wine industry and among consumers says Colin Harkness.
The Mayor of l'Alfàs del Pi, Vicente Arques, has publicly commended Mendoza's career and his role as an ambassador for the region.
