Last February, the Alicante TRAM transported 1,455,647 passengers, representing a 1.35% increase in the number of journeys made in the same period last year and 19,346 more trips. The busiest day was Friday the 14th, with 61,773 passengers.
Overall, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) added a total of 9,291,408 movements between TRAM d'Alacant (1,455,647 users) and Metrovalencia (7,835,761 passengers) in January.
According to the line breakdown, Line 2, which connects Luceros with San Vicent del Raspeig, was the most used, with 625,245 trips; followed by Line 1, which connects Luceros with Benidorm, which reached 271,325; Line 3, which connects Luceros with El Campello, with 217,955; Line 4, which connects Luceros with Plaza La Coruña, with 163,143; Line 9, which runs between Benidorm and Dénia, with 100,034; and Line 5, which connects Porta del Mar with Plaza La Coruña, with 77,945 trips.
Luceros, the busiest station
In terms of station traffic, Luceros had 256,153 passengers and Mercado 153,079. They were followed by Sant Vicent del Raspeig with 97,688; Marq-Castillo with 77,332; and Bulervar del Plá with 49,798 users.
In tenth place were El Campello, with 49,568; Pintor Gastón Castelló, with 49,256; Benidorm, with 48,089; Garbinet, with 48,089; and Universitat, with 45,485 movements.
The Costa Blanca enters another exciting week of the summer season, with beaches packed, festivals in full swing and a busy calendar of sporting, cultural and family events across Benidorm, Altea, Villajoyosa, Finestrat, La Nucía and L'Alfàs del Pi.
With schools now on holiday across much of Europe, visitor numbers continue to rise as the region enjoys one of its busiest periods of the year.
