Altea / 15 April 2026
Altea Town Council has strengthened its public safety capabilities with the introduction of six new motorcycles for the local police force, alongside wider investment in technology, personnel and specialist units.
The new vehicles, unveiled by Mayor Diego Zaragozí, Councillor for Traffic and Citizen Security Deo Sánchez, and Police Chief Vicente Soler, are designed to improve mobility and response times across the municipality.
Improved Mobility Across Key Areas
The €70,000 investment includes:
Officials say the expanded fleet will allow officers to respond more quickly and operate more efficiently in both densely populated and hard-to-reach areas.
“This investment reflects our commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents throughout the year,” said Deo Sánchez.
Wider Security Upgrades
The new motorcycles form part of a broader strategy to modernise policing in Altea.
Additional measures include:
The council has also introduced specialised units, including:
The investment has been financed using municipal budget surpluses from the previous financial year, which officials say reflects strong fiscal management.
Police Chief Vicente Soler confirmed that the council opted to purchase the vehicles outright rather than lease them, citing better long-term value.
He also noted that officers were involved in selecting and testing the motorcycles, which were already used during recent Easter operations.
Focus on Safety and Community Confidence
Local authorities say the upgrades are aimed at improving both operational efficiency and public confidence in policing services.
With Altea continuing to attract residents and visitors year-round, the council emphasised the importance of maintaining a modern, well-equipped police force capable of responding to evolving security needs.
Easter Events & Local Atmosphere (Just finished but still ongoing vibe)
Benidorm
The tail end of Semana Santa has wrapped, but the holiday atmosphere continues this week. Expect busy beaches and a bustling Old Town, with hotels around 90% full. Daily live music, tribute acts, UK-style cabaret shows, DJs, and themed party nights are keeping the nightlife lively. The Benidorm Punk Weekender is also taking place, offering multi-day alternative music performances. This week is more about the post-Easter buzz, nightlife, and events in venues rather than big parades.
