Altea / 5 July 2026
Altea has launched a major summer policing operation aimed at increasing security across its beaches, historic Old Town and busiest tourist areas as thousands of additional visitors arrive on the Costa Blanca for the peak holiday season.
The special deployment, announced by Altea Town Hall, will see extra foot patrols and mobile police units operating throughout the municipality to improve public safety, deter anti-social behaviour and provide a faster response to incidents during one of the busiest times of the year.
Increased Patrols Across Key Tourist Areas
The enhanced operation will focus on locations that experience the highest visitor numbers during the summer months, including:
Local Police officers will increase both foot patrols and vehicle patrols to provide a visible presence and reassure residents, businesses and visitors throughout the summer.
Faster Response And Crime Prevention
Councillor for Traffic and Citizen Security Deo Sánchez said the initiative is designed to improve response times while maintaining the high standards of public safety for which Altea is known.
Chief Inspector Vicent Soler explained that the operation has several key objectives:
The move comes as police forces across Alicante Province step up patrols for the summer tourism season.
Spain's National Police recently launched Operation Summer 2026, reinforcing the province with nearly 300 additional officers focused on beaches, tourist resorts, transport hubs and entertainment districts. The operation includes the Safe Tourism programme, aimed at helping millions of holidaymakers enjoy a safe summer across the Costa Blanca.
Several neighbouring municipalities, including Elche and Orihuela Costa, have also introduced enhanced summer policing plans featuring increased patrols, specialist units and additional surveillance in coastal areas.
Supporting A Busy Tourist Season
Altea's picturesque Old Town, Blue Flag beaches, marina and waterfront promenade attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, with July and August representing the busiest period for tourism.
The Town Hall says close coordination between the Local Police, emergency services and other security agencies will help ensure a safe and welcoming environment throughout the holiday season.
Councillor Sánchez thanked officers for their professionalism and commitment, saying their work continues to make Altea "a benchmark for quality of life and public safety."
Keeping Altea Safe This Summer
The enhanced police presence forms part of the council's wider strategy to ensure residents and visitors can enjoy the summer with confidence while maintaining the relaxed atmosphere that has made Altea one of the Costa Blanca's most popular coastal destinations.
With visitor numbers expected to continue rising over the coming weeks, authorities are encouraging everyone to remain vigilant, report suspicious activity promptly and follow local safety advice while enjoying the resort.

The Costa Blanca is in full summer swing, with another busy week of sunshine, festivals, sporting events and family entertainment across Benidorm, Altea, Villajoyosa, Finestrat, La Nucía and L'Alfàs del Pi.
