Good weather, full hotel operations and the Fancy Dress Party drive occupancy above 96%.
Benidorm is experiencing what could be described as “August in November”, with hotel occupancy figures matching — and in some cases surpassing — those of the peak summer season. According to data from BigDataHosbec, the city’s Patron Saint Festivities have generated hotel demand more typical of August than the end of the tourism calendar.
Current “on the books” reservations show an expected occupancy rate of 96.8% across all open hotel establishments — representing approximately 43,000 beds.
The success does not end there. On Thursday, 13 November, the day of the city’s famous Fancy Dress Party, occupancy is projected to exceed 97.2%. This event, which began spontaneously in the 1990s, now attracts around 30,000 costume-clad tourists and British residents, making it one of the most significant fancy-dress celebrations held outside the UK.
BigDataHosbec estimates that around half of all hotel guests this week are British, highlighting long-standing visitor loyalty to Benidorm’s popular festivities.
This strong tourist pull, driven by cultural and local celebrations, reinforces the importance of such events in reducing seasonality and promoting sustainable tourism — fostering traditions that are shared and enjoyed by both residents and visitors.
