Benidorm Boosts Beach Cleaning and Security Ahead of April Holiday Rush

The city of Benidorm has announced a major reinforcement of beach cleaning, maintenance, and security services ahead of the busy early April holiday period, as thousands of visitors — including UK tourists — are expected to arrive.

The special operation, running from 2–6 April, will deploy more than 30 cleaning and maintenance workers alongside 32 additional police officers across the resort’s three main beaches: Levante Beach, Poniente Beach and Mal Pas Beach.

Enhanced Cleaning Operation

The council has introduced round-the-clock cleaning shifts, including:

• Morning and daytime manual cleaning teams maintaining beach conditions
• Night-time mechanical cleaning using tractors and screening machines
• Additional specialist staff, including maintenance workers and marine cleaning support

These measures aim to ensure beaches remain in optimal condition throughout peak visitor hours, particularly during the Easter travel period.

Increased Police Presence

Security will also be significantly stepped up, with 32 extra police officers deployed across day, evening, and night shifts.

The operation includes:

• Beach patrols on foot
• A quad bike unit for rapid response
• A police boat for coastal surveillance
• Additional support from Spain’s National Police
• Officials say the goal is to provide rapid response to incidents and increased visibility, ensuring safety for both residents and tourists.

• Ahead of the holiday period, improvement works have been carried out, including:
• Repairs to beach facilities such as footbaths
• Upgrades to access walkways
• Sand redistribution and conditioning to improve quality

Councillor Mónica Gómez said the operation is designed to ensure visitors can enjoy Benidorm’s coastline “safely and without incident,” describing the beaches as the city’s “most valuable asset.”
