Benidorm City Council has awarded a total of €48,000 in grants to support employment within local business entities, with funding allocated to six associations based in the city.
The grants, issued through the Department of Employment and Local Development, are aimed at helping business associations cover labour and operational costs, particularly for administrative staff who support local companies and entrepreneurs. The programme was approved by the Local Governing Board in December, according to Councillor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez.
Each of the six beneficiary associations has received €8,000, the maximum amount available under the scheme. The recipients are:
Councillor Mónica Gómez explained that the aim of the initiative is “to help ensure that business entities can maintain their staff, mainly administrative personnel, so they can continue providing support services to companies already operating in Benidorm, as well as to those launching new business projects.”
She added that “employment is the best social policy that can be promoted,” highlighting that job creation and entrepreneurship remain key priorities of the Local Employment and Development Agency, both through direct initiatives and through grant programmes such as this one.
The funding was available to non-profit business associations in Benidorm with an active, permanent premises open to the public and dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and local companies.
