The challenge will be held from September 16 to 22, with a step-counting app that will select the most active cities.
Benidorm City Council, through its Department of Mobility, is inviting residents to take part in the ‘Walk for your City’ challenge, an initiative organised to mark European Mobility Week (16–22 September 2025).
Councillor for Mobility, Francis Muñoz, explained that Benidorm has already registered for the challenge, which not only promotes sustainable mobility but also encourages physical activity and healthy lifestyle habits.
To participate, residents simply need to download the Walk15 app, select the Benidorm team, and start walking. Although users can register now, the official step count runs from 16 to 22 September. At the end of the week, the most active cities across Europe will be announced.
Councillor Muñoz said:
“With this challenge, we aim to encourage our residents to walk for their own well-being and, collectively, to show Benidorm’s active participation in European Mobility Week, which we have been promoting for years through a wide range of initiatives.”
He added that walking is already part of daily life in Benidorm, especially along promenades and public spaces in the early morning and evening.
“We invite everyone—from those who walk for sport to those who walk to work, to shop or simply for leisure—to join the challenge, because every step counts.”
The full programme of activities for European Mobility Week 2025 will be announced in the coming days.
