The 2025 edition of the Benidorm Half will take over the streets of the city this Saturday, breaking all previous participation records with 9,132 registered runners across its 10K and Half Marathon distances. The event has been described as “the largest race in the province of Alicante” and is expected to attract more than 25,900 visitors, including athletes and their companions. According to economic data, the event is projected to generate €7.38 million in tourist spending and a total business impact of more than €15 million.
The official presentation took place at the Meliá Benidorm Hotel, attended by the Acting Mayor, Ana Pellicer; the Councillor for Sports, Javier Jordá; race director Fernando Brotons of Tour-Sport; Olympic champion Fermín Cacho; athlete María Fuentes; local sports clubs and event partners.
A Record-Breaking and International Event
The race will be held this Saturday, 22 November, with the 10K starting at 5:00 pm and the Half Marathon at 6:00 pm. This year marks a major leap in participation, rising from 6,500 runners in 2024 to 9,132 in 2025.
A hallmark achievement of this edition is its exceptional international reach. 50.5% of all participants (4,616 runners) are non-Spanish, with an extraordinary 44.4% coming exclusively from the United Kingdom. A total of 37 countries will be represented. After Spain (4,516 runners), the top nationalities include the United Kingdom (4,043), Ireland (108), Norway (74), Belgium (72), the Netherlands (72), Poland (42), Italy (38), Germany (23), France (22), and Sweden (18).
Among Spanish entrants, 1,934 runners come from the province of Alicante, followed by Valencia (704), Madrid (463), Albacete (424), and Murcia (184).
Economic Impact: A Major Boost for Benidorm
Of the 9,132 registered participants, 7,198 runners will travel from outside the province, bringing a projected 18,714 companions based on average attendance figures. In total, 25,912 visitors are expected, generating €7,382,580 in tourist expenditure, a business volume of €15,097,259, and a gross value added (GVA) of €8,195,837, according to the economic impact model developed by the University of Valencia.

Councillor for Sports Javier Jordá praised the event’s remarkable growth:

Race director Fernando Brotons highlighted the progress made since Tour-Sport took charge of the event in 2017–2018:
“From the first edition with nearly 2,000 runners, the Benidorm Half has grown year after year, even overcoming the challenges of the 2020 pandemic. This year’s 9,132 participants mark a milestone in internationalisation and sports tourism.”
Participants, Categories and Gender Distribution
Of all registered runners:
The 10K features near-equal participation (50.3% men, 49.7% women), while the Half Marathon will include 67.8% men and 32.2% women.
Route and Traffic Information
The race route has been certified for both distances and is included in the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) national calendar. The 10K and 21K will start on Avenida Comunidad Valenciana (corner with Calle Bélgica) and head west along Alfonso Puchades, finishing in Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de España, beneath City Hall.

Streets will reopen progressively as the race advances

To ensure the smooth and safe running of the event, the following resources will be deployed:
A large team of volunteers from local clubs, including the Horizontes Scout Group, Playas de Benidorm Volleyball Club, Neptuno Swimming Club, Benidorm Handball Club, Benidorm Basketball Club, PS Water Artistic Swimming Club, Benidorm Athletics Club, and Benidorm Cycling Union.
