Benidorm Praises Successful Security Operation After Incident-Free World Cup Celebrations

Benidorm has hailed the success of its summer security operation after confirming there were no significant incidents in the city's bars, entertainment venues and nightlife areas during the recent FIFA World Cup celebrations.

The positive assessment was made during a meeting of the Local Security Board, where police and local authorities reviewed security arrangements for one of the busiest periods of the year, when thousands of football supporters gathered across the resort to watch international matches.

Despite fixtures involving countries with large numbers of visitors staying in Benidorm, authorities reported that the tournament passed without any major public order incidents, highlighting the effectiveness of extensive planning and close cooperation between the emergency services.

Strong Police Presence

The Security Board was chaired by Mayor Toni Pérez and attended by representatives from the National Police, Local Police, Guardia Civil, Regional Police (Policía Autonómica) and the Spanish Government's Deputy Delegate in Alicante, Manuel Pineda.

Councillor for Citizen Security Jesús Carrobles said the meeting had been deliberately scheduled after the tournament to allow authorities to fully assess the effectiveness of the summer policing operation.

He praised the "excellent coordination" between all security agencies, describing the World Cup policing plan as a success that ensured supporters could enjoy the matches safely in bars, pubs and entertainment venues across the city.

Keeping Benidorm Safe This Summer

With the peak holiday season now underway, security officials confirmed that enhanced patrols and preventative policing will continue throughout the summer to maintain Benidorm's reputation as one of Spain's safest tourist destinations.

Major tourist attractions

Authorities say maintaining both public safety and visitors' confidence remains a top priority during the busy holiday period.

'Safe Holidays' Campaign Continues

The City Council also highlighted the ongoing success of its annual "Safe Holidays" campaign.

The initiative provides practical crime prevention and safety advice to tourists through digital information screens, posters, beach access points, hotels, restaurants, bars and other visitor hotspots.

The campaign encourages holidaymakers to remain vigilant against theft, safeguard valuables and know how to contact the emergency services if required.

Emergency Services Training

During the meeting, Councillor Carrobles also presented certificates to officers who completed a joint emergency response course organised by the National Police and Benidorm Local Police in partnership with firefighters.

The training focused on improving cooperation during emergency incidents.

Carrobles said effective emergency response depends not on different uniforms but on coordination, commitment and public service, adding that joint training exercises strengthen the ability of all emergency services to respond quickly and effectively.
