The city is among the first six municipalities that have expressed their intention to collaborate with the Generalitat and the FVMP to combat intrusion in the sector
During the second day of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur, Benidorm City Council has confirmed today its willingness to adhere to the framework agreement signed by the Generalitat Valenciana and the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP) to delegate to the city councils the exercise of the power to initiate, investigate and resolve sanctioning procedures for the commission of minor, serious and very serious infractions in relation to tourist housing located within their territorial area.
The mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, has participated in the signing of the declaration of intentions to be part of this agreement together with councillors and mayors of Valencia, Alicante, Elche, Torrevieja and Castellón de la Plana, who have also been joined by the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, and the president of the FVPM and mayor of Benicarló, Juan Manuel Cerdá.
In this way, and after being the first municipality in the Valencian Community to request the power to inspect and sanction tourist apartments last September, Benidorm is also among the first six municipalities that will soon assume these powers with the aim of combating the intrusion of unregulated housing in the accommodation sector.
