The project, included in the 'Benidorm Visión 360' PSTD, represents an investment of 854,885.07 euros and extends to Metge Miguel Martorell Street.
With the summer season over, Benidorm City Council has restarted work on the second phase of the renovation of the overhead power lines along the Levante Promenade, covering the stretch from Avenida Europa to Calle Metge Miguel Martorell.
Councillor for Public Works, Francis Muñoz, explained that “in mid-June the works were suspended to avoid disruption during the peak season, ensuring safety for both beachgoers and promenade users.”
He added that “although the initial plan was to resume on September 1, high occupancy levels at the beginning of the month led us to delay the restart until this week.” From now on, the works will run in parallel with daily activity on the promenade and beach, with efforts made to minimize inconvenience.
This second phase represents an investment of €854,885.07 under the Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan (PSTD) ‘Benidorm Visión 360’, part of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan funded by the European Union’s Next GenerationEU programme. It follows the first phase, completed between El Torrejó and Avenida Europa, which cost €1,972,119.41 and reduced energy consumption by more than 33%.
Beyond the energy savings, the project also seeks to modernize the promenade’s iconic lighting. “After more than three decades in service, it was time to update the system and bring it back to the forefront of technology,” said Muñoz.
He confirmed that the current works are expected to finish before Easter. By then, 65% of the overhead lines along the promenade will have been renewed. The remaining 35% will be tackled in a third and final phase, which is already being drafted by technical teams.
Easter Events & Local Atmosphere (Just finished but still ongoing vibe)
Benidorm
The tail end of Semana Santa has wrapped, but the holiday atmosphere continues this week. Expect busy beaches and a bustling Old Town, with hotels around 90% full. Daily live music, tribute acts, UK-style cabaret shows, DJs, and themed party nights are keeping the nightlife lively. The Benidorm Punk Weekender is also taking place, offering multi-day alternative music performances. This week is more about the post-Easter buzz, nightlife, and events in venues rather than big parades.
Day Trips & Experiences (Running This Week)

After Easter processions, Altea is quieter this week. Visitors can enjoy street performers and small local gigs, with major festivals scheduled later in the year.

Finestrat
Finestrat is relatively quiet this week, with the next major event being the April Fair on 25–26 April featuring flamenco, tapas, and music.

Big Picture This Week
