Callosa d’en Sarrià / 7 June 2026
One of the Costa Blanca’s most popular natural attractions is preparing for a busy summer season, with enhanced safety measures, improved accessibility, and additional visitor services introduced at Les Fonts de l'Algar.
The renowned natural beauty spot in Callosa d’en Sarrià, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, is expected to welcome up to 2,000 people per day during peak summer weeks. The site remains one of the most visited inland tourist destinations in the Marina Baixa region, drawing both domestic and international visitors seeking waterfalls, natural pools, and scenic walking routes.
Enhanced Summer Safety Operation
To cope with the anticipated increase in visitor numbers, Callosa d’en Sarrià Town Council has launched a comprehensive summer operations plan that will remain in place until 15 September.
Key measures include:
The attraction currently employs 20 staff members, including eight dedicated to year-round maintenance and conservation of the protected natural area.
Accessibility Improvements Completed
Several upgrades have been carried out during 2026 to improve visitor comfort and accessibility while preserving the natural character of the site.
Improvements include:
Officials say the improvements are designed to make the attraction safer and more accessible for families, older visitors, and those with reduced mobility.
Focus on Toll Blau Safety
Particular attention has been given to the popular Toll Blau area, located near the Caldera waterfall.
The natural pool is the only designated area within Les Fonts de l'Algar where rock jumping is permitted. New signage, improved safety features, and clearer visitor guidance have been installed to encourage responsible use and reduce accidents during the summer season.
Authorities have again reminded visitors that jumping into the water is prohibited everywhere else within the protected site.
Growing Importance for Costa Blanca Tourism
Les Fonts de l'Algar continues to play an important role in Costa Blanca tourism, complementing the region's beaches with a nature-based attraction that attracts visitors throughout the year.
The site has become increasingly popular among international tourists staying in nearby destinations such as Benidorm, Altea and Calpe, many of whom make day trips to the waterfalls during the summer months.
Local authorities say balancing visitor growth with environmental conservation remains a priority as demand for sustainable tourism experiences continues to rise across the Costa Blanca.
Protecting a Natural Treasure
Tourism Councillor Rafael Gregori said the municipality has focused on improving visitor safety while preserving the natural environment that makes Les Fonts de l'Algar unique.
Mayor Andrés Molina added that maintaining the area's natural beauty depends not only on municipal investment but also on responsible visitor behaviour.
Visitors are encouraged to follow safety instructions, respect environmental regulations and use designated facilities to help protect one of Alicante province's most important natural attractions.
