The Alfàs del Pi City Council and Avanza Movilidad Levante, the concessionaire of the public transport bus service that connects the 18 municipalities of the Marina Baixa, have shown their concern about the problems that the elimination of traffic lights on the Altea-Albir highway Is generating. In a meeting held in the Alfasino town hall, the worsening of the service that was provided until now was revealed.
The definitive elimination of the traffic lights located in front of the Altea Nautical Club and a few meters from the El Chiringuito restaurant roundabout, in the municipality of Altea, is doubling the time it takes to make the journey between l'Alfàs del Pi and Altea. This has been communicated by the company awarded the service, Avanza Movilidad Levante, to the Alfàs del Pi City Council, where the first complaints from affected users, both from Altea and l'Alfàs del Pi, have begun to arrive.
Until now this road had two-way traffic. For a few days now, only one lane of traffic has been left, heading south towards l'Albir, and the other lane of the road has been reserved for pedestrian use. To go to Altea you must use the N-332 road. Therefore, the buses must enter l'Albir to pick up users and, to go to Altea, return to the N-332.
This new situation has caused an increase in the time needed to make the journey between the two neighboring towns and, consequently, the frequency of passage has also been affected
according to what Avanza Movilidad Levante has conveyed to the City Council of l'Alfàs del Pi.
The company has warned that the situation may worsen in summer, due to the increase in traffic on the N-332 and the traffic jams that occur as it passes through Altea. Hence the concern of the Alfàs del Pi City Council and Avanza Movilidad Levante, since this new situation is causing a worsening of the public transport service that it provided until now.
