Aena denies fuel shortages at Spanish airports despite global oil concerns

Spain’s national airport operator Aena has moved to reassure passengers that there are no fuel supply issues affecting airports across the country, including Alicante-Elche Airport.

 

The statement comes amid growing global concerns over fuel supplies following rising geopolitical tensions impacting oil flows, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.

 

No disruption to airport operations

In a public update, Aena confirmed that Spanish airport infrastructure is operating normally and that fuel storage companies have sufficient reserves in place.

 

The operator said there is currently “no indication” of any supply problems affecting its network of airports.

 

This follows speculation and reports suggesting potential shortages at some European hubs due to increased pressure on global fuel supply chains.

 

Airlines facing rising costs

While airports remain unaffected, several airlines have already warned of increased operating costs linked to higher fuel prices.
