Finestrat–Benidorm coast gears up for major ALS charity run on June 7

The Marina Baixa coastline is preparing for one of its most emotional sporting events of the year, as firefighters, runners, and residents unite ahead of the 7th Transcostablanca Solidarity Race in Benidorm on June 7, raising funds for ALS support charity ADELA-CV.

 

Firefighters kick off the campaign

The initiative began this week with a symbolic gesture from the Marina Baixa Firefighters, who completed a 42-kilometre solidarity route between Benidorm and San Juan (Alicante). Around 70 firefighters took part, running and cycling through key coastal points including Finestrat (Cala de Finestrat), La Vila Joiosa, and El Campello.

 

The event served as a warm-up and awareness drive for the main public race, which has become a major fixture in the Costa Blanca sporting calendar.

 

June 7 event: running for a cause

The main event in Benidorm will include:

• 5K competitive race
• Charity walk for families and participants of all levels
• Children’s races
• “Zero line” donation option for those not participating

 

All proceeds will go to ADELA-CV, supporting people affected by ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) across the Valencian Community.

• Benidorm City Council
• Provincial fire services
• Local tourism and hospitality partners
• Sports organisations including Grupo Brotons

 

Last year’s edition raised more than €13,500, funding home care and support services for ALS patients and families.

Organisers highlight that ALS affects an estimated 400 people in the Valencian Community, making local support crucial for ongoing care and quality of life.

 

ADELA-CV representatives have stressed that the event is not only about fundraising, but also visibility, dignity, and community support for families dealing with the disease.

 

Coastal spirit: Finestrat to Benidorm connection

With routes passing through Finestrat and La Cala, the event has become a symbolic link between coastal towns. Local firefighters describe it as a “shared effort across the whole bay,” reflecting the tight-knit identity of the Marina Baixa region.

 

From early morning training runs to beachfront cheering points, the area is expected to turn into a corridor of solidarity on race day.
