Costa Blanca / 9 March 2026
Towns across the Costa Blanca, including Benidorm, Altea, L'Alfàs del Pi, La Nucía and Finestrat are preparing for a busy period as tourism, events and local initiatives continue to shape life in the Marina Baixa region.
In Benidorm, preparations are underway for major spring events including St Patrick’s Day celebrations on 17 March, which are expected to draw thousands of visitors from across Europe, particularly from the UK and Ireland. The city has also seen strong tourism figures, welcoming around three million visitors in 2025, reinforcing its status as one of Spain’s leading holiday destinations and a key driver of the local economy.
Local authorities in Benidorm are also continuing efforts to tackle illegal dumping around the city and neighbouring areas. Increased patrols by the Local Police and the installation of surveillance cameras are part of an ongoing campaign to protect public spaces and ensure proper waste disposal.
Nearby Altea, known for its historic old town and artistic community, continues to attract visitors and residents seeking a quieter coastal lifestyle while remaining closely connected to the bustling tourism industry of the Marina Baixa.
In L'Alfàs del Pi, the municipality remains a hub for the international community on the Costa Blanca, hosting cultural events and community initiatives throughout the year that bring together residents from across Europe.
Meanwhile, La Nucía is preparing to host the 32nd Rallye La Nucía Mediterráneo – Trofeo Costa Blanca, which will open the Spanish Super Rally Championship calendar from 16 to 21 March 2026.
The event will feature more than 120 kilometres of competitive stages across several towns in Alicante province and is expected to attract motorsport fans and visitors to the region.
In neighbouring Finestrat, continued development and residential growth are drawing increasing interest from both Spanish and international property buyers, reflecting the wider trend of strong demand across the Costa Blanca housing market.
Across the Marina Baixa area, tourism, sporting events and community initiatives continue to play a major role in local life, with towns working together to promote the Costa Blanca as a year-round destination for visitors and residents alike.
Easter Events & Local Atmosphere (Just finished but still ongoing vibe)
Benidorm
The tail end of Semana Santa has wrapped, but the holiday atmosphere continues this week. Expect busy beaches and a bustling Old Town, with hotels around 90% full. Daily live music, tribute acts, UK-style cabaret shows, DJs, and themed party nights are keeping the nightlife lively. The Benidorm Punk Weekender is also taking place, offering multi-day alternative music performances. This week is more about the post-Easter buzz, nightlife, and events in venues rather than big parades.
Day Trips & Experiences (Running This Week)

Altea
After Easter processions, Altea is quieter this week. Visitors can enjoy street performers and small local gigs, with major festivals scheduled later in the year.
