Altea / 13 June 2026
The Department of Social Welfare and Equality at Altea Town Hall has unveiled the programme for DiversAltea 2026, a vibrant series of events celebrating diversity, inclusion and LGBTQ+ rights. The initiative will culminate on 27 June with the town's annual Pride Festival, featuring a colourful parade, the reading of the LGBTQ+ manifesto, live entertainment and community-focused activities in Altea's historic Old Town.
Organised to coincide with International LGBTQ+ Pride Month, DiversAltea has become one of the most significant equality and awareness events on the Costa Blanca, bringing together residents, visitors, community organisations and advocates in support of diversity and human rights.
Councillor for Social Welfare and Equality, Anna Lanuza, described DiversAltea as an important platform for both celebration and advocacy.
"DiversAltea once again provides a space where diversity is visible, respected and celebrated. It combines culture, community and activism while reaffirming Altea's commitment to equality and inclusion for all," she said.
Pride Parade to Take Centre Stage
The flagship event will take place on Saturday, 27 June, beginning at 8:30pm with the traditional Pride Parade. Participants will gather at the gardens of Palau Altea before proceeding through the town's streets towards the iconic Plaza de la Iglesia in Altea's Old Town.
The parade will feature:
The evening will be hosted by presenter Amparo Oltra, who will guide attendees through the programme of celebrations.
LGBTQ+ Manifesto Highlights Equality Message
At approximately 10:00pm, following the conclusion of the parade, representatives from Altea Entiende will read the annual LGBTQ+ Manifesto in Plaza de la Iglesia.
The manifesto will reaffirm calls for equal rights, dignity and protection for LGBTQ+ individuals while highlighting ongoing challenges faced by the community both in Spain and internationally.
Organisers say the event serves as a reminder that Pride is not only a celebration but also an opportunity to raise awareness and promote continued progress towards equality.
Music, Entertainment and Community Engagement
Following the manifesto reading, celebrations will continue with the "Party Night" show presented by the LocaMente company.
The programme will include:
A dedicated Rainbow Point will also operate throughout the event, providing information, support and awareness resources for attendees.
Programme Extends Beyond Pride Day
DiversAltea 2026 includes a wider programme of educational and cultural activities designed to encourage reflection, dialogue and understanding.
Among the scheduled events are:
Literary Event
The programme also includes the presentation of the book Espérame en Callao, followed by a discussion with participants exploring themes of identity, relationships and social inclusion.
Promoting Human Rights and Social Inclusion
According to organisers, DiversAltea reflects Altea's wider commitment to equality, diversity and social cohesion.
Anna Lanuza stressed that while important progress has been made in advancing LGBTQ+ rights, challenges remain.
"DiversAltea is a celebration, but it is also a call to continue defending equality and confronting discrimination wherever it exists. We must continue building a society based on respect, dignity and equal opportunities for everyone."
The councillor also highlighted concerns regarding ongoing discrimination, hate speech and attacks targeting LGBTQ+ individuals in various parts of the world, underlining the importance of maintaining visibility and support for equality initiatives.
