Valencian Community / 28 January 2026
The Ministry of Emergencies and the Interior, through the Emergency Coordination Centre of the Generalitat Valenciana (CCE), is urging the public to take extreme precautions due to a severe episode of strong winds, coastal phenomena and snowfall affecting almost the entire Valencian Community.
Weather alerts activated
In response to the snowfall risk, Situation 0 of the action procedure for snowfall has been activated in the following areas:
The General Directorate of Land Infrastructure, part of the Third Vice-Presidency and the Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure, Territory and Recovery, has deployed its winter road maintenance plan in inland areas of the province of Valencia in response to recent snowfall.
The winter maintenance system, which was activated at the end of 2025, had already been implemented in the province of Castellón. However, this is the first time it has been deployed this season in the province of Valencia. The objective of the plan is to manage snowfall, maintain mobility on the regional road network and implement preventive measures, including the spreading of salt and brine to prevent ice formation.
On Wednesday, teams began work on several key routes in the interior of Valencia, including sections of the CV-35 near Titaguas and Aras de los Olmos, as well as the CV-355, where preventive treatments are being carried out to avoid snow accumulation and the formation of icy patches.
The Generalitat, in coordination with road maintenance companies, has a fleet of snowploughs equipped with salt spreaders and milling equipment, ready to intervene if conditions worsen. These resources are strategically positioned across the provinces of Castellón, Alicante and Valencia to ensure a rapid response wherever required.
The Third Vice-Presidency continues to closely monitor weather conditions and road status, maintaining constant surveillance to allow for coordinated and proactive action. The aim is to guarantee road safety, ensure traffic flow and minimise disruptions across the regional road network during adverse winter weather.
An image gallery accompanying this deployment shows the winter road maintenance actions currently being carried out in inland areas of the province of Valencia.
Advice to the public
People are also advised to keep away from old or dilapidated buildings, walls, billboards, parks, tree-lined avenues, lampposts and high-voltage towers, which may pose a risk during strong winds.

Local authorities can also access the Guide to recommendations for city councils for preventive decision-making in adverse weather situations via the 1·1·2 website.
