


Finestrat Town Hall has activated its annual Pest Prevention Plan across municipal green spaces, with a particular focus on tackling the pine processionary caterpillar. Municipal teams have already begun work in the Castell area, around the Hermitage, as well as in the pine forests of the La Font del Molí recreational zone, the La Foia sports area, the roundabout at the entrance to the historic centre, and Parc Alcalde Miguel Llorca.
The plan also includes targeted fumigation near the Balcó de Finestrat school and the zone parallel to the CV-767 provincial road.
The Councillor for Parks and Gardens, Guillermo Lloret, highlighted the importance of early action, stating:
“These preventative measures are essential to stop processionary caterpillars from falling to the ground and posing risks to children and pets.”
In addition to the treatment of pine trees, the prevention plan extends to the fumigation of palm trees to protect them from the palm weevil, another pest that affects municipal green spaces.
Finestrat Town Hall will continue these tasks throughout the season to ensure safer and healthier public environments for residents and visitors.
