This Sunday, October 20, La Cala de Finestrat will host the National Dog Competition . Organised by the Canine Society of Alicante with the collaboration of the Finestrat City Council, more than 100 dogs are expected to participate.
Dogs registered in the LOE or RRC or specimens with a foreign pedigree recognised by the Fèdèration Cynologique Internationale may participate in the National Competition.
Dogs that are not registered with the above-mentioned entities may participate in the popular category. In this case, the registration fee will be €5 for charity, benefiting the La Cruz animal shelter.
Registration to participate in the competition will take place on Sunday, October 20, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the event location: public parking in front of the beach.
Once registration is complete, the demonstrations are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
As in every competition, different judges will evaluate the canine morphology in relation to the recognised standard: breed category, by age and by sex. Among the prizes there will be Best Child Presenter; Best Youth Presenter; Best Exemplary of the Region; Couples; Breeding Groups; BIS Puppies, BIS Young or BIS Spanish breeds.
The Councillor for Tourism, Donna Rebecca Plummer, recalled that Finestrat has hosted several editions of this competition. “And this year we have decided to hold it in La Cala de Finestrat. We are a municipality where both its interior and its coastal area provide a privileged setting for these events. In addition, in Finestrat there is a special sensitivity for this type of exhibitions in which dogs are the main protagonists. So we expect a lot of participation with a solidarity fundraising.
Also a lot of public to follow this competition from La Cala de Finestrat. For this event we will also have the collaboration of the Festival Committee that will set up a bar so that attendees can taste products at popular prices” added the Councillor for Tourism.
