La Vila Joiosa / 28 May 2026
La Vila Joiosa is accelerating its digital tourism transformation with a series of new online initiatives designed to modernise visitor experiences, improve accessibility and strengthen the town’s international tourism profile.
The project forms part of the municipality’s Tourism Sustainability Plan, financed through European Union NextGenerationEU funds under Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience programme.
The new strategy includes the launch of an accessible tourism website, virtual tourism tools, online international advertising campaigns and the digital recreation of one of the town’s most historic landmarks.
New Accessible Tourism Website
One of the centrepieces of the project is the complete redesign of the official tourism website for La Vila Joiosa. Click here
The new platform will feature improved accessibility tools, mobile-friendly navigation and multilingual tourism content designed to make information easier to access for both residents and international visitors, including people with disabilities.
The updated site will promote the town’s beaches, gastronomy, cultural heritage, festivals, walking routes and museums, while also supporting the municipality’s wider goal of reducing seasonal tourism dependence.
Virtual Tourist Viewpoint and 3D Heritage Experiences
The Town Hall is also developing a new virtual tourist viewpoint, allowing users to explore some of La Vila Joiosa’s most iconic locations remotely through immersive visual content and interactive digital experiences.
Alongside this, the historic Bastion of Villajoyosa will be digitally recreated using 3D technology, virtual tours and interactive visualisations. Officials confirmed that the project is entirely digital and will not involve physical alterations to the heritage site itself.
The aim is to improve virtual access to the town’s cultural heritage while attracting new audiences online.
International Online Promotion Campaign
As part of the wider strategy, La Vila Joiosa is also launching new digital advertising campaigns targeting international tourism markets including France, Belgium, Austria and Poland.
The campaign will feature well-known ambassadors connected to the town, including actor and singer Agustín Galiana and elite cyclist Felipe Orts, showcasing different areas of the municipality through promotional video content distributed across digital platforms and social media.
Tourism councillor Rosa Llorca said the initiative reflects the town’s commitment to a “modern, accessible and visitor-focused tourism model” while helping diversify tourism beyond traditional summer beach holidays.
Growing Focus on Smart Tourism
The digital transformation reflects a growing trend across Spain’s tourism sector, with Costa Blanca destinations increasingly investing in smart tourism technology, sustainability and digital visitor services ahead of the busy summer season.
