1 November 2025 | Benidorm
The Sant Jaume cemetery hosted the traditional Eucharist celebration at midday, which was repeated in the afternoon at the Verge del Sofratge cemetery.
Thousands of residents in Benidorm gathered yesterday, Saturday, to honour and remember their deceased loved ones on All Saints’ Day, a deeply rooted tradition across Spain. Despite the large crowds at both municipal cemeteries, the day passed peacefully and without incident.
At 12:30 p.m., a memorial mass was held at the Sant Jaume Municipal Cemetery, celebrated by Father Francisco Juan Galiana, parish priest of the Church of San Francisco de Asís, and attended by hundreds of local residents. Among those present were Mayor Toni Pérez, the Councillor for Cemeteries, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and other members of the municipal government.
A second Eucharist took place later in the afternoon at the Maré de Déu del Sofratge Cemetery, led by Father Pedro Crespo, parish priest of the Church of La Almudena.
To make it easier for the public to visit during the commemorations, Benidorm City Council opened additional access routes to the Sant Jaume Cemetery, including entry via Assagador de Ricardo,
alongside the usual entrance from the industrial estate. Both cemeteries have remained open continuously throughout the week, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., allowing families to visit graves and leave floral tributes.
On Sunday, 2 November, in observance of All Souls’ Day, special opening hours will continue, with both cemeteries closing after the two scheduled masses at 5:00 p.m.
Additionally, in collaboration with the local transport operator, the City Council has reinforced the Line 5 bus service to Sant Jaume Cemetery throughout the week. Today, Sunday, the frequency will be further increased, with departures from Jaime I Avenue (near the Bonanza Hotel) at 10:30, 11:30, 16:30, and 17:30, and from Avenida del Mediterráneo (near the technology park) at 10:40, 11:40, 16:40, and 17:40. Return services from the cemetery will run at 11:00, 12:00, 17:00, and 18:00.
Easter Events & Local Atmosphere (Just finished but still ongoing vibe)
Benidorm
The tail end of Semana Santa has wrapped, but the holiday atmosphere continues this week. Expect busy beaches and a bustling Old Town, with hotels around 90% full. Daily live music, tribute acts, UK-style cabaret shows, DJs, and themed party nights are keeping the nightlife lively. The Benidorm Punk Weekender is also taking place, offering multi-day alternative music performances. This week is more about the post-Easter buzz, nightlife, and events in venues rather than big parades.
