Benidorm | 3 June 2026
The Marina Baixa Health Department has firmly rejected claims that the recently opened Rincón de Loix Health Centre in Benidorm is suffering from structural leaks, insisting that the issue reported in recent days was limited to minor condensation from the building's air-conditioning system.
The clarification follows criticism from the opposition PSOE group in Benidorm, which raised concerns about water accumulation inside parts of the facility and questioned the progress of the long-awaited rehabilitation unit planned for the centre.
In an official statement, health authorities stressed that there are currently no leaks within the building and that the small amounts of water detected were caused by condensation linked to the cooling systems during recent periods of warmer weather.
According to the department, the construction company responsible for the project immediately attended the site and carried out corrective work to resolve the issue.
Rehabilitation Unit Still Scheduled to Open Before Summer
The Health Department has also reaffirmed its commitment to opening the new rehabilitation and physiotherapy area before the start of the summer season.
Officials noted that the rehabilitation unit was not included in the original design of the health centre and was later added following modifications introduced by the Regional Ministry of Health.
They argue that this demonstrates the Valencian Government's commitment to expanding healthcare services in Benidorm rather than a lack of planning, as alleged by opposition politicians.
Work on the new rehabilitation facilities is understood to be in its final stages, with equipment installation and operational preparations continuing over the coming weeks.
Important Healthcare Investment for Benidorm
The Rincón de Loix Health Centre represents one of the most significant healthcare investments in the Marina Baixa area in recent years. The modern facility was developed to meet growing healthcare demand in one of Benidorm's most densely populated districts, serving both permanent residents and the city's large seasonal population.
The centre includes primary care services, family medicine, nursing, paediatrics and specialist healthcare facilities designed to reduce pressure on other health centres across the municipality.
Healthcare authorities say the addition of an on-site rehabilitation service will further improve patient care by reducing travel requirements for physiotherapy and recovery treatments, particularly for elderly patients and those recovering from surgery or injury.
Political Dispute Continues
The issue has become the latest point of disagreement between the regional health authorities and local opposition representatives.
While the PSOE maintains concerns over the management and completion of the project, the Marina Baixa Health Department insists the centre is operating normally and that all commitments regarding the rehabilitation area remain on schedule.
Officials reiterated that the rehabilitation unit will be operational before summer and said residents can have full confidence in the quality and safety of the facilities.
