For the weekend, it is recommended that access to the neighborhood be made from Estación Street and Foietes Avenue.
Benidorm is already preparing to experience the Cyclocross festival this weekend with the World Cup event for this modality, which will be held in the Foietes and El Moralet parks and for which 15,000 fans are expected to attend. While all the preparations for the circuit are being finalised on the ground, the Department of Mobility has informed of the changes and traffic impacts that will occur in the coming days due to this sporting event, since the holding of the event will force the closure of some roads and services in the area.
This is the case, for example, of the Mercasa esplanade, which will be cleared of vehicles from 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, after the market is held, until the market ends on the 22nd. During this same period, the parking lot of the Ciudad Deportiva 'Guillermo Amor' will also be free of vehicles and Avenida Libertad will be closed to traffic.
Regarding road traffic, 9 d'Octubre and Ciudad Deportiva avenues will remain closed from 8 a.m. on Friday 17th until 8 a.m. on Monday 20th. Abad de Tormes street will also be closed to traffic from early Friday morning.
In view of the sports days scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, access from Beniardá Avenue to Alcalá and Capitán Cortés streets will be restricted. A police checkpoint will be set up at the intersection of the latter with Rejoneador Ginés Cartagena. The Department of Mobility and the Local Police recommend that on both days, especially on Sunday, access to the upper part of Colonia Madrid be via Estación Street, while access to the rest of the streets in the neighbourhood should be via Foietes Avenue.
They also recalled that the City Council has three dissuasive car parks in the vicinity of the competition area, such as the one next to the TRAM Station, the one at the Fairgrounds and the one on Calle de Cuba, where tourist vehicles can be parked free of charge for both residents and those who come to watch the championship.
