Benidorm / 19 June 2026
Benidorm City Council, Local Police and the municipality's beach concessionaire have finalised an extensive security, rescue, lifeguard and cleaning operation for the annual Nit de Sant Joan (Night of Saint John) celebrations, which will take place on the evening of 23 June.
More than 60 personnel will be deployed across the resort's beaches to ensure public safety and maintain services during one of the busiest nights of the year, when thousands of residents and visitors gather on the shoreline to celebrate the traditional midsummer festival.
The operational plan was confirmed during a coordination meeting chaired by Mayor Toni Pérez and attended by representatives from the Beaches Department, Local Police, Civil Protection, municipal technical services and the beach management concessionaire.
Mayor Pérez said the deployment had been designed to meet the significant demand typically experienced during the festivities.
"Benidorm's beaches welcome thousands of people every year on San Juan's Eve. This special operation has been carefully planned to ensure that residents and tourists can enjoy the celebrations safely while maintaining the high standards expected of our beaches," he said.
Key operational measures
Extended lifeguard and emergency cover
Lifeguard and rescue services will operate continuously until 3.00am.
A total of 29 lifeguards and medical personnel will be deployed across Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas beaches.
Three fully staffed ambulances will be positioned at strategic locations along the coastline.
A rescue boat and three first-aid stations will remain operational throughout the evening.
Accessible beach facilities
Mechanical beach-cleaning equipment, including tractors and sand-screening machines, will be used to restore the beaches before the following morning.
Public safety reminders
Council officials have reminded residents and visitors that several activities remain prohibited under municipal regulations, including:
Internationally recognised beach standards
