More than 1200 scoops of artisanal ice cream were distributed this morning at the Market. The master ice cream makers Miguel Ángel Verdú and José Pascual Cortés from the Alboraya gelateria in Vila Joiosa, Albert Sirvent from the Sirvent gelateria in Benidorm and Iván Ivars from Gelats Xixona del Campello have offered 90 kilograms of ice cream to celebrate the II Day of Artisan Ice Cream of Alicante.
Among the flavours, the viler, made with Valor chocolate, and the spikenard sorbet, made by the Alboraya ice cream shop, stand out. The public also tasted Malaga flavored terrines, mango sorbet, meringue milk, tutti fruttti, waffle, mascarpone with lotus biscuit and sweet milk, Catalan cream, Greek yogurt, caramelized pistachio and pistachio and caramel milfula praline· lysate, cheese and pistachio.
The president of the National Association of Artisan Ice Cream Makers, Marco Miquel, explained that the waffle is present in this event because it is the European flavor of 2024 chosen by the main European associations of artisan ice cream makers on the European Day of Artisan Ice Cream, celebrated on March 24
Mayor Marcos Zaragoza has thanked the National Association of Ice Cream Makers for the Vila Joiosa's commitment to hosting this meeting and explains that "if you talk about gastronomy in the province of Alicante, you talk about La Vila, in addition that he has been working with gastronomy as an element of tourism promotion for 26 years and that events such as these are part of the La Vila Gastronòmica brand".

The Market has hosted this delicious encounter, under the motto "Taste and tradition in every spoonful", which has delighted the most demanding palates in order to promote ice cream as a gastronomic value of the province of Alicante. Young and old have enjoyed a wide variety of artisanal ice cream flavors.
The Mayor Marcos Zaragoza, the President of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Toni Pérez, the Councilor for Commerce, Rosa Llorca, as well as members of the Municipal Corporation, have also visited the Market sites.

The town also maintains its reputation for traditional fishing heritage, chocolate production history, and quiet beach tourism, offering a more relaxed contrast to nearby resort centres.
INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATE – Benidorm EV expansion
Alongside tourism growth, Benidorm is also continuing its sustainability rollout, including new electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the Levante area as part of its broader mobility and climate strategy.
The project forms part of EU-backed funding aimed at supporting low-emission transport across major Mediterranean destinations.
