Benidorm - 11 March 2026
Benidorm, Spain – 9 March 2026 — The President of the Valencian Government, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, has highlighted the significant improvements delivered by the newly opened Racó de Loix Health Centre in Benidorm, stating the facility will greatly enhance accessibility, patient care and staff organisation.
The modern primary healthcare centre, which officially began operating on 2 March, represents an investment of approximately €5.5 million by the Generalitat Valenciana and will provide medical services to more than 20,500 residents and visitors in the area.
During a visit to the new facility, President Pérez Llorca was joined by the regional Health Minister, Marciano Gómez, and the Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez.
Speaking during the visit, the president said the new centre represents a major step forward for healthcare services in the region.
“This health centre improves both the working conditions of healthcare professionals and the experience of patients, offering greater space, comfort and accessibility,” he said.
Expanded Facilities and Modern Design
The new health centre replaces the previous auxiliary clinic and offers 2,726 square metres of modern healthcare facilities, including:
A new rehabilitation and physiotherapy department is also currently being finalised and is expected to open later this summer.
Currently, patients requiring physiotherapy from Racó de Loix must travel to the La Cala Health Centre, which handles more than 3,400 physiotherapy consultations annually. The addition of the new service will significantly improve access for patients, particularly those with reduced mobility.
Future 24-Hour Emergency Service
The president also confirmed plans to introduce a 24-hour emergency care service at the Racó de Loix centre before the summer, in line with regional policy to extend continuous emergency coverage to municipalities with populations exceeding 50,000 residents.
Record Investment in Healthcare
President Pérez Llorca emphasised that the project forms part of a wider strategy to strengthen primary healthcare services across the region.
The Valencian Government is currently implementing what officials describe as the largest healthcare budget in the history of the region, totalling €9.186 billion, with significant investment allocated to:
The president added that these improvements demonstrate the government’s commitment to delivering better public services.
“Those of us responsible for public administration must work to improve the quality of life of our citizens. Projects such as the Racó de Loix Health Centre are essential in ensuring that healthcare services meet the needs of growing communities.”
The new facility also forms part of wider healthcare improvements in the Marina Baixa region, including expansion plans at the Marina Baixa Hospital, where an additional 113 beds are scheduled to be added in the coming years.
