Finestrat /14 December 2025
The President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, attended the investiture session of the newly elected Mayor of Finestrat, Natividad (Nati) Algado, on Friday, 12 December, marking a historic moment in the municipality’s political life.
The plenary session was held in the Finestrat Town Hall and was attended by a large audience of local residents, senior officials and representatives from the region, including the President of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Toni Pérez, and the Consellera of Innovation, Industry, Tourism and Commerce, Marian Cano.
Natividad Algado was formally elected with 11 votes in favour from the Popular Party councillors and 2 votes from the Socialist Party, becoming the first woman to serve as mayor of Finestrat.
In his remarks at the ceremony, President Pérez Llorca emphasised the confidence he has in the new mayor’s leadership:
“She will be a formidable mayor because I know her, because I know her background and her worth, and because I believe that Finestrat will be in very good hands.”
Algado, who previously served as First Deputy Mayor and has a professional background in medicine, addressed the audience in both Spanish and Valencian. She expressed her deep gratitude and commitment to the community, saying that her investiture reflects years of collaborative public service.
In her first official statements, the new mayor outlined key priorities for her administration, including improvements in public services and social welfare, enhanced education and youth support, sustainable urban mobility, environmental protection, cultural and sporting activities, and economic development.
The investiture comes following Pérez Llorca’s recent appointment as President of the Generalitat Valenciana, a role he assumed after serving as mayor of Finestrat from 2015 to 2025. His move to the regional government triggered the succession process at the municipal level.
Algado paid tribute to her predecessor in her speech, recognising his long service and commitment to Finestrat, and pledged to continue the work and vision established over the past decade.
The transition marks a significant step for the municipality and reinforces its longstanding tradition of local stability and continuity in governance.
