Seven injured after ceiling collapse at Benidorm hotel during Easter weekend
Seven people have been injured after part of a ceiling collapsed inside a hotel in Benidorm on Easter Sunday, prompting a major emergency response.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:20pm local time at the Poseidon Palace Hotel, where a section of suspended plasterboard ceiling reportedly fell into a dining area while guests were present.
Emergency services, coordinated by Spain’s CICU (Emergency Information and Coordination Centre), dispatched multiple units to the scene, including advanced and basic life support ambulances, transport units and Red Cross teams. Firefighters and local police also attended.
Casualties and response
A total of seven people — five men and two women — sustained injuries, all described as minor, including contusions and shock.

Both were treated at the scene and discharged without needing hospital care.
The remaining five casualties, aged between 33 and 80, were taken to nearby medical facilities including Hospital Clínica Benidorm and Hospital Marina Baixa for further checks.

Incident details
Reports indicate the collapse occurred in a restaurant or dining area, with debris including ceiling panels and infrastructure falling onto guests. Around 60 people were believed to be in the area at the time.
Despite the dramatic nature of the incident, authorities have confirmed:
A municipal architect has been deployed to assess the building and determine the cause of the collapse, which remains under investigation.
Context
Benidorm remains one of Spain’s most popular destinations for British tourists, attracting hundreds of thousands of UK visitors annually, particularly during peak holiday periods such as Easter.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the nationalities of those injured.
