The organisation has confirmed the attendance of 55 teams and more than 500 athletes
This coming Sunday, January 19, the IV Regatta of the Suma Fixed Bank League will be held in the waters of Benidorm Bay starting at 9:00 a.m., organized by the Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community and the Benidorm Nautical Club and the collaboration of the Sports Department of the City Council.
According to the organisers, 55 teams will be attending the event, which is a record number of participants for all previous editions. More than 500 athletes will meet at the Nautical Club in categories ranging from cadets to veterans in the male and female categories, and the SCM (Overcoming Breast Cancer) teams.
In the case of the Benidorm Nautical Club, on this occasion they will row at home and will participate with four teams: veteran women and men and absolute men and women, as well as the Anémona team in the SCM category.
The weather forecast predicts a sunny day with easterly winds of around eight knots, which will make for a difficult race due to the state of the sea, although the latest forecasts point to a significant improvement in the state of the sea. The organisers, however, expect a large number of fans, both athletes and visitors, to attend.
As for the route, for the absolute, veteran, junior and SCM teams it will be 5,000 metres, while for the cadet category races it will be 2,000 metres. The start will take place near the jetty so that all the starts from the port can be seen. From there the boats will head to Tío Ximo beach, in Rincón de Loix, to take the buoys and head back to the port. The Councillor for Sports, Javier Jordá, has hoped that “fans of the sea and regattas will come to the Nautical Club on Sunday to appreciate the beauty of this hard and exciting sport that is rowing”.
