The Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals de 2023 finalizes the preparations for the traditional Fira del 9 d'Octube that is held every year in the city on the occasion of Valencian Community Day. On this occasion, the event will last for three days, from Saturday morning to Monday evening, and will take place in Elche Park, as explained by the Festival Councilor, Mariló Cebreros. The councilor has wished the mayors of the commission that this traditional market "will attract a large audience and allow a good amount of euros to be raised for the organization of the Patronal Major Festivals", which will take place from November 11 to 15.
The Fira will have a 'porrat' of typical products, with more than 25 stalls, in which gastronomy and artisan products will be the protagonists, as explained by the president of the 2023 Committee, Vicente Solaz.
The official opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, at 9:30 am. From then on, the stalls will open so that citizens and tourists who want to collaborate with the festivities can buy different traditional products, such as basketry and wickerwork, salted meats, bakery items and pastries, ceramics, mistela or chocolates, among others. In addition, “rodabalcons” with the image of the Virgin of Suffrage and Saint James will also be on sale, and there will be stalls making artisanal “paparajotes” and pumpkin fritters.
To complete this offer, the Festival Committee has also organized several tastings of different products, such as vermouth, which will be on Sunday and Monday; or paellas, which will also be on Monday, with the collaboration of various restaurants in Benidorm, to whom the Commission thanks their selfless help.
In addition, the Mayorales will have their traditional bar where they will cook their sandwiches and offer drinks at popular prices.
The President of the 2023 Commission, Vicente Solaz, has invited all the residents of the region and visitors “to enjoy a Fair on October 9 in which the entire Commission has been involved, so that with the work of the mayorales , and the help of the public, a lot is raised for the nearby Patron Saint Festivals of Benidorm.”
