New donation from the Costa Blanca Odd Fellows Association to the Alfàs Food Bank. On this occasion, it was €500 that this international organisation contributed completely altruistically. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows was born 200 years ago in Great Britain and has had a presence in Norway for a century. The Costa Blanca subsidiary is made up of Scandinavians residing in l'Alfàs del Pi, mostly Norwegians, willing to contribute their bit to solidarity and social projects.
At the donation ceremony, held this morning at the headquarters of the Social Volunteering of l'Alfàs, Sissel Lundvall, president of the Odd Fellows Costa Blanca association, met with the Alfasina councilors of International Residents, Martine Mertens, and Cooperation and Volunteering, Isabel Muñoz, the councilor for Relations with Residents' Associations and Clubs, Patrick de Meirsman, and the treasurer of Social Volunteering, Joanna Wilson, among others.
The Social Volunteering of l'Alfàs is a non-profit association that has been dedicated since 2013 to serving residents of the municipality at risk of social exclusion. It currently has around thirty volunteers who dedicate much of their free time to collecting, sorting and distributing clothing and food, as well as caring for the elderly and sick. In addition, they develop awareness campaigns among the population aimed at promoting a culture of solidarity in the municipality.
The association appreciates the constant support they receive, both from private citizens and from public and private institutions and entities. The list of collaborators is long, from the city council itself to groups of retirees, clubs of residents of other nationalities, sports and festive groups, schools, banking entities, business associations, NGOs, companies and businesses... In short, a large group of people of different nationalities and ages, to whom the Social Voluntary Association wants to thank and whom it encourages to continue providing their collaboration.
